This book contains 461 diagrammed endgame positions with one side to play and win. Solutions are provided at the end of the book. The endgames all feature an unusual material balance so, in volume 1, we have minor piece or rook vs pawn(s) and rook (and pawns) vs minor piece(s) (and pawns). Examples are taken from Grandmaster play or studies with preference given to more recent games. Unbalanced endgames often reveal some beautiful ideas and show the powers of the pieces and pawns in a way which more equal positions cannot.
