A collection of 145 games and 4 problems by William Pollock together with a brief biography and some other articles. Pollock was best known for appearing in the Hastings 1895 tournament where he beat Steinitz and Tarrasch amongst others, but he also played in many strong tournaments in England during the 1880s, alongside the likes of Blackburne, Bird, Zukertort and Gunsberg.

Pollock was born in England in 1859. He studied medicine and qualified as a surgeon in Ireland, before returning to England in 1882 and practicing as a surgeon. In 1889 he travelled to the USA to take part in the 6th American Chess Congress and later settled in Baltimore, USA before returning to die in England, from tuberculosis, at the age of 37.

In English Descriptive notation. (1.P-K4 etc.) This book is a facsimile reprint of a book originally published in 1899.
