Paul Felix Schmidt was an Estonian chess International Master, chess writer, and chemist. He was Estonian champion in 1936 and competed on board two for Estonia in the 1937 chess olympiad. He won the Tallinn tournament in 1935 and drew a match with Paul Keres in 1936. He also won the first international tournament at Parnu, in 1937, ahead of Keres and Flohr.

In 1939 he emigrated to Germany and took part in many tournaments there during the war years, competing with Alekhine and Keres. A few years after the war he moved to the U.S.A. and continued his work there as a scientist.

Schmidt was one of the strongest players in the world in the early 1940s with a retro-grading over 2600.

This book includes: 29 cross tables, career record, brief biography, many diagrams and a few illustrations, 254 games and positions from 1931-1971 - all that we could find. Many games have notes, often by Schmidt.

Published 2017, softback, 229 pages.
