Gennady Nesis

Alexander Khalifman, to the surprise of many, became FIDE World Champion in 1999. His adventurous, sacrificial style of play was thought too uncertain to suceed at the highest level. He won, however, in the controversial knockout format tournament to become the 14th champion.

Khalifman's style is an excellent example for practical players in so far as he goes his own way in the openings, preferring experimentation to repetition, and often sacrificing material for long term compensation. This book contains 97 of Khalifman's games with annotations as well as a biography and career record.

Author Gennady Nesis has been Khalifman's trainer for 17 years.

Published 2000, softback, 208 pages.
