The Hastings 1936-37 event turned into a closely contested race between ex-World Champion Alexander Alekhine and rising American star Reuben Fine. Alekhine won the tournament only by beating Fine in the penultimate round.

Other contestants included Milan Vidmar and Erich Eliskases; the British contingent comprised William Winter, T H Tylor, Sir George Thomas and Vera Menchik.

This book includes all the games, with annotations from various contemporary sources. The games are given (with notes) in English descriptive notation (1. P-K4 etc.) and also in algebraic notation, without notes, immediately afterwards. Selected games from the Premier Reserves section are also included in algebraic notation.

The result tables from the main event plus Premier Reserves sections I & II are provided at the end of the book.

Published 1992, softback, 55 pages.
