The Hague 1873 tournament was the first congress organised by the Dutch Chess Association and resulted in HWB Gifford becoming the first Dutch Champion after a play-off. Fourteen players took part in the all-play-all tournament which featured very few drawn games. This book presents all the available games, with diagrams but without annotations, and includes the tournament crosstable and indexes of players and openings.
