Sergei Tiviakov

The aim of this PC-DVD is to provide a complete repertoire for White against the French Defence, beginning with 3.Nd2 - an excellent weapon with which to fight the French Defence, as author Sergei Tiviakov explains.

Tiviakov has been very successful in beating the French Defence with an overall score of 80% (well above average) from 219 games played. His PC-DVD contains exclusive information and databases not available anywhere else. The main database consists of about 312,000 games and all the games the author has played in the French Defence are included. Many of these have not been published previously.

The PC-DVD also contains a reference database and a database with annotated games. A new feature is interactive training: test yourself and find out if you have mastered your repertoire and if you are ready for battle at the board. Video feedback on your answers helps you to learn! All these features make this a must-have PC-DVD if you want to choose 3.Nd2 against the French Defence.

Born 1973 in Krasnodar (Soviet Union), Sergei Tiviakov was a member of the Smyslov school and gained the titles of World Youth Champion at U16 and U18 levels. 1994 he represented Russia in the Chess Olympiads. Since 1997 Tiviakov has been living in Groningen (Netherlands). With his new home country he won the title in the European Teams Championships in both 2001 and 2005 and was victorious in the championship of the Netherlands in 2006 and 2007. Tiviakov celebrated his biggest success in 2008 when he won the European Individual Chess Championship.
