The Polar Bear System is for players who like interesting and original positions, without necessarily proving a theoretical advantage. Often positional themes and plans are more important than move orders.

The System begins with 1.f4, and follows up with the fianchetto of the king's bishop, so being a mirror image of the Leningrad Dutch. The Dutch is considered an aggressive opening for Black - so should 1.f4, d5; be for White!

Grandmaster Henrik Danielsen has spent many years researching and playing the Polar Bear System both over the board and online. In this way he has discovered the key strategies and tactics of the opening and selected the best of these to form a coherent repertoire for his book.

The book is aimed at club players but also professionals may also find inspiration in it's pages. It contains both Volume 1 and Volume 2.

Henrik Danielsen is a Danish Grandmaster who lives in Iceland.

Published 2016, softback, 322 pages.
