Viktor Korchnoi

An updated edition of Korchnoi's famous autobiography, first released in the 1970s. This book takes the story up to 2004 and includes memories of his childhood in the besieged Leningrad, his time as a student of the university of his home town (now Saint Petersburg), his rise to the top of the major chess power (the USSR), the years before and after his defection to the West in 1976, his struggles with Karpov and more recent events.

Korchnoi's opinions of his fellow players and life in the former Soviet Union are forthright and uncompromising as one would expect. The book includes many photographs as well as eight games with comments in typical Korchnoi style and which are of decisive importance for his brilliant chess career. Also included is a CD with 4280 of his games in ChessBase format. Preface by Garry Kasparov.

Published 2005, hardback, 226 pages.
