Planning in the Middlegame
In Chess Blueprints Russian chess teacher Nikolay Yakovlev identifies 188 key positions from the games of Russian players, each of which reveals an important strategic or tactical principle. Your task is to evaluate each position and form a plan of action. The continuation of each game, from the diagrammed position, is given to enable the reader to see how the correct plan should be executed.
The six chapters of the book examine the topics of Strongpoints and Weaknesses, Play in and for the Centre, Position Play, Attack, Defence and The Endgame. Each example is easy-to-follow with diagrams and text explanation throughout.
Nikolay Yakovlev has been a professional chess teacher in St Petersburg, Russia for over 25 years. His pupils include the 2006 Russian Champion Evgeny Alekseev.
