In this book biographical material about Efim Bogoljubow's chess career is interwoven with 200 annotated wins by Bogoljubow - one of the strongest players in the world during the inter war period.

Ukranian born Bogoljubow was interned in Germany after the outbreak of World War I, whilst playing in the Mannheim 1914 tournament. He married a German woman and eventually emigrated to Germany. He twice played Alexander Alekhine in matches for the titles of World Champion and was twice Soviet Champion as well as winning other major tournaments such as Bad Kissingen 1928 ahead of Capablanca. He was crowned Champion of FIDE after defeating Max Euwe in 1928.

This book gives the story of his life and chess career, complimented with tournament cross-tables. The games are annotated in symbol notation and indexes of opponents and openings are included.
