This is a completely re-written edition of volume one of the "Kramnik" series with large amounts of new material included. In fact the increased amount of material has meant that this volume has had to be split into two parts.
In Vol. 1b Alexander Khalifman examines the main line King's Indian after 1.Nf3,Nf6; 2.c4,g6; 3.Nc3,Bg7, 4.e4,d6; 5.d4,0-0; 6.Be2,e5; 7.0-0 and now Black's defences beginning with 7..Na6; 7..exd4; and 7..Nc6. Particular attention is devoted to the recommendation (after 7..Nc6;) 8.d5,Ne7; 9.b4 which Kramnik has done so much to popularize. The author offers a detailed analysis of these systems in a book suitable for stronger players. Alexander Khalifman was the 14th FIDE World Champion.
