Vishy Anand & John Nunn
This new expanded edition of the award-winning "Vishy Anand: My Best Games of Chess" features 30 extra games from the period of Anand's greatest successes, 2001-2012.
Anand has been one of the world's top players for more than two decades, and cemented his place in the all-time hall of fame by winning the unified World Championship in 2007, and successfully defending his title against Kramnik and Topalov. But it's not just his results that make Anand special. His style of play leads to highly spectacular games, and his speed of thought is the stuff of legends. He is also a great explainer of ideas, as his annotations for this book demonstrate. Anand is renowned as 'Mr Nice Guy', popular with both the public and his fellow supergrandmasters.
John Nunn, who collaborated with Anand on the original book, has annotated 30 games selected by Anand himself from the period 2001-2011. This new edition also features biographical information and a career record.
Viswanathan (Vishy) Anand comes from southern India and is the greatest chess-player of his generation. Having shot to fame as a child, playing master-standard chess at lightning speed, he became a grandmaster in 1987. Anand contested his first world championship match in 1995, and won the FIDE Championship in 2000. He has been World Champion since 2007, and has won many elite-level tournaments throughout his long career. Grandmaster John Nunn is a three-time World Chess Solving Champion, and is famous for the quality of his chess writing.

Adrian Mikhailchishin & Oleg Stetsko
Now firmly established among the world's elite, the Norwegian Magnus Carlsen has been setting records ever since he embarked on his chess career. He became a grandmaster at the age of just 13, and in 2010 he became the youngest player to be ranked No.1 in the world. According to his mentor, Garry Kasparov, Carlsen has a positional style similar to previous world champions such as José Raúl Capablanca, Vasily Smyslov and Anatoly Karpov.
The comparison with the Cuban genius Capablanca seems especially apt, as Carlsen also comes from a small country with no particularly strong chess traditions. This book presents detailed annotations to 64 of Carlsen's best games, together with a description of his career. Also examined are the deficiencies from which he suffered as a young player, and how he overcame these on his way to the top. the book includes Carlsen's tournament and match record.
The authors are both well known to the chess world, with numerous previous books to their credit. Adrian Mikhalchishin is a Ukrainian grandmaster with extensive training experience, while Oleg Stetsko is a national master and a former senior trainer of the USSR team. Translated and edited by Ken Neat.
Published 2012, softback, 280 pages.

Garry Kasparov
Part one of a three volume autobiographical series focuses on the "pre-World Champion" phase of Kasparov's career. It includes his life story and one hundred memorable games and endgames with new annotations by the ex World Champion.
Kasparov's historical volumes have received great critical and public acclaim for their rigorous analysis and comprehensive detail regarding the developments in chess that occurred both on and off the board. This new volume and series continues in this vein with Kasparov scrutinising his most fascinating encounters from the period 1973-1985 whilst also charting his development away from the board.
This series will be unique by the fact that it will record the most important chess battles of the greatest chessplayer of all-time. The series in itself is a continuation of Kasparov's mammoth history of chess, comprising My Great Predecessors and Modern Chess.
Garry Kasparov was FIDE World Champion from 1985 to 1993 and unofficial World Champion from 1993 to 2000. He is regarded by many as the strongest chess player of all time.

Tibor Karolyi
The Making of a Champion
Anatoly Karpov was World Chess Champion from 1975 to 1985 and is one of the greatest players of all time. In this book Tibor Karolyi focuses on Karpov's prime strength - his unrivalled grasp of strategy.
Volume one of this two volume series contains 76 extensively annotated games illustrating Karpov's profound understanding of positional play. Many of his opponents have been baffled by the profundity of his strategies, but here Karolyi explains Karpov's genius, using a combination of explanation and statistical analysis.
The games are arranged chronologically with annual performance summaries and indexes of opponents and openings making the material easy to follow. Karpov's Strategic Wins 1 features Karpov’s most entertaining and instructive strategic wins from 1961-1985, during which time Karpov became World Champion and proved he was a worthy successor to Bobby Fischer's title.
Tibor Karolyi is an International Master from Budapest who was Hungarian Champion in 1984. One of his previous books won the Guardian's Book of the Year prize in 2007. Karolyi coached Peter Leko, who improved in 4 years from promising junior to world class Grandmaster.

Tibor Karolyi
The Prime Years
Volume 2 covers the period from 1986 to 2010 when Karpov was battling with his young rival Garry Kasparov for chess supremacy. In spite of, or perhaps because of, losing the World Championship to Kasparov it was during this period that Karpov produced some of his best games as he attempted to regain his crown. At Linares in 1994, for example, Karpov achieved what statistics show to be the finest ever tournament performance.
As in volume 1 Tibor Karolyi annotates 67 of Karpov's best positional wins from this period, arranged chronologically, with explanations of his strategies and statistical analyses throughout. As before the book includes indexes of openings and opponents as well as performance ratings for each year.
Tibor Karolyi is an International Master from Budapest who was Hungarian Champion in 1984. One of his previous books won the Guardian’s Book of the Year prize in 2007. Karolyi coached Peter Leko, who improved in 4 years from promising junior to world class Grandmaster.
