PLAY THE SICILIAN DRAGON PLAY THE SICILIAN DRAGON(CODE g0017)
Edward Dearing
Scottish IM Edward Dearing has opted for an analysis tree approach in presenting the theory of this heavily analysed opening as it allows for the inclusion of more material than a format based on complete, illustrative games. This makes sense in an opening where theory is so extensive and move orders critical. He recommends a repertoire for Black but, where two sound alternative moves exist, examines the consequences of both to give the reader a choice to suit his or her own playing style. The first 17 chapters are devoted to the popular Yugoslav Attack including 9.Bc4, 9.0-0-0 and 9.g4. There are also chapters on the Classical Dragon, Levenfish Attack, 6.Bc4 and the Fianchetto Variation. The author has played the Dragon for many years and draws on his own experience in selecting which lines of play to recommend.
Pub. 2004, softback, 256 pages.

STARTING OUT: THE SICILIAN DRAGON STARTING OUT: THE SICILIAN DRAGON(CODE p4398)
Andrew Martin

He analyses all the main variations of the Dragon in eight chapters, taking care to explain the reasoning behind them, and offers a balanced overview of each line of play rather than a repertoire for Black. Coverage is via 62 complete, annotated master games and, as with previous works in the popular Starting Out series, the reader is helped throughout with a plethora of notes, tips and warnings highlighting the vital characteristics of the Sicilian Dragon and of opening play in general. Chapters include: Yugoslav Attack (4 chapters), Classical Variation, Modern 6.Bc4, Levenfish Attack and Other Tries for White. I.M. Andrew Martin is an openings expert and popular chess teacher.
