	AN EXPLOSIVE OPENING REPERTOIRE FOR BLACK (1...d6)(CODE g8350) J Yrjola & J Tella 1..d6 is a flexible opening move which can transpose into various known defensive systems or lead into independent lines of play. 	CHESS OPENINGS FOR WHITE, EXPLAINED(CODE c2311) Lev Alburt, Roman Dzindzichashvili & Eugene Perelshteyn A heavyweight repertoire book for White featuring 1.e4! The layout and approach is similar to the companion volume "Chess Openings for Black Explained" by the same authors with an easy-to-follow layout. On to the repertoire! Against 1..e5; they recommend the Scotch Gambit (2.Nf3,Nc6; 3.d4,exd4; 4.Bc4) and give lines against both the Giuoco Piano and Two Knights Defences. 	CHESS OPENINGS FOR BLACK EXPLAINED(CODE c2312) Lev Alburt, Roman Dzindzichashvili & Eugene Perelshteyn This is a repertoire book featuring the Accelerated Dragon, Nimzo- and Bogo-Indians, Symmetrical English and lines to play against less common White openings such as the Trompovsky, Colle and Torre systems. Specifically the book advocates 8...a5 against 7.Bc4 in the Accelerated Dragon and Gurgenidze’s ...Nxd4 against the Maroczy Bind. The move order advocated against 1.e4, is 1...c5; and 2...g6; to sidestep the Rossolimo variation. This sequence is also taken up against the Alapin Sicilian (2.c3). In the Nimzo-Indian the suggested line to meet 4.e3 is 4...b6 with ...Ba6 versus Ne2 and ...c5 versus Nf3. The authors also recommend lines against 4.a3, 4.Qc2, 4.Bg5 and the currently popular 4.f3. 	HOW TO BUILD YOUR CHESS OPENING REPERTOIRE(CODE g8389) Steve Giddins The author's contention is that too few players know how to study openings efficiently. With proper direction of their efforts it would be possible for them to build a reliable and effective repertoire. Giddins himself had almost no opening repertoire until, in his thirties, he went to Moscow and studied under a professional trainer who taught him some things that "every Russian schoolboy should know". The aim of this book is to pass on some of these lessons to the reader. Although this book doesn't go for in depth analysis of specific openings it does recommend openings to suit differing styles of play and openings which complement each other (e.g. French Defence and Dutch Defence). It also offers guidance on whether to play main lines or obscure systems, "universal" openings, the use and abuse of computers, move order questions, stylistic considerations and when to depart from your repertoire. 	MEETING 1.d4(CODE p4224) Aagaard & Lund This is a repertoire book for Black based on the QGD Tarrasch Defence but also including some material on meeting the Reti, Catalan and Trompovsky. The presentation is based around 69 complete, annotated games but the authors include plenty of material on pawn structures and planning which is essential to a clear understanding of the spirit of the Tarrasch. 	STARTING OUT: 1.e4!(CODE p4416) Neil McDonald 1.e4 is probably the move to pose most problems for Black in the opening but many players are reluctant to play it because of the amount of theory associated with certain Black defences and also because of the number of possible replies available to the second player.
