The fourth book of the series is devoted to openings which arise after the moves 1.e4 d6, or 1.e4 g6. These systems have earned their right to exist despite the numerous attempts to refute them. In such a large book there is space for both theoretical analysis and explanation of middlegame ideas. Part one outlines how to study an opening and how to get the most from the book. Part two by Alexander Chernin explains the strategy of the Pirc looking, in ten chapters, at key concepts for both sides. In such a fluid system as the Pirc it is vitally important to understand the role of each piece in the different pawn structures which can arise. Part three by Lev Alburt offers a Pirc repertoire for black and gives theory and extensive explanation to back it up. An index of games and variations is included.
