Yasser Seirawan
Four-time US Champion Yasser Seirawan provides an engaging account of his games and interactions with the world champions of chess: celebrated figures including Garry Kasparov, Anatoly Karpov, Bobby Fischer, Boris Spassky, Tigran Petrosian, Mikhail Tal, Vassily Smyslov, Mikhail Botvinnik and Max Euwe.
Having been involved in frequent battles against world champions over a 25 year period, Seirawan is in an ideal position to describe what it's really like staring across the chessboard at a true legend. In this book he covers his most memorable encounters in detail - his famous wins and painful losses against the best players on the planet.
Seirawan's substantial involvement in off-the-board chess activities over the years has also led to much communication and dealings with world champions, and here Seirawan recounts for the first time many stories involving these giants of chess, helping to paint a picture of their personalities and revealing their many different dimensions.
*Instructive and entertaining coverage of games with world champions
*Includes many anecdotes about chess legends as well as the author's own opinions of international chess and it's players and officials
Yasser Seirawan is one of the top-ranked chess players in the USA and was the first American candidate for the World Championship title since Bobby Fischer. He is a four-time U.S Champion, the 1989 Western Hemisphere Champion and a ten-time member of the U.S Chess Olympiad team. His achievements distinguish him as one of only a handful of players to defeat world champions Garry Kasparov and Anatoly Karpov in tournament play.

Olimpiu Urcan
A Chess Master's Life in America 1871-1931
Julius Finn was born in Russian Poland, and came to New York in 1887 at the age of 16. From a humble start as a street peddler on the Lower East Side, Finn swiftly rose to become New York's champion chess master and one of the country's best blindfold chess entertainers. Finn's chess success contributed to the rise of the chess scene in the Big Apple in the early twentieth century, and he fared equally well in business, parlaying his skills into a highly successful career. Along with a foreword by John S. Hilbert, this biography of Finn in America includes analysis of 96 of his chess games - most of them previously unknown or little studied - line drawings of game situations, and photographs.
Award-winning journalist Olimpiu G. Urcan writes for Chess Cafe, Quarterly for Chess History, Chess Monthly and New in Chess Magazine. A Romanian native, he lives in Singapore.

Isaac Linder & Vladimir Linder
The name of Jose Raul Capablanca (1888-1942), the third world champion, is indelibly inscribed in the annals of chess history. Capablanca's technique, intuition, remarkably quick calculation, and sense for elegant combinations made him the paragon of grandmasters during his lifetime.
At the peak of his career Capablanca was almost invincible; each of his losses was regarded as a sensation. His books, articles, and lucid annotations became instant classics.
As a star of the first magnitude, Capablanca continues to influence the world of chess. All the world champions of the late 20th century - Botvinnik, Smyslov, Tal, Petrosian, Spassky, Fischer, Karpov, and Kasparov - have been influenced by Capablanca's original ideas.
Respected Russian chess historians Isaac and Vladimir Linder cover all aspects of the great Cuban world champion's life, from his development as chess prodigy, to becoming world champion and beyond.
Dozens of archival photographs crosstables and a complete record of Capa's tournament and match results complement the 87 annotated games and fragments, the result being a magnificent tribute to one of the greatest chessplayers of all time.
Isaak Linder is regarded as one of the pre-eminent chess historians of the modern era. He is the author of many books, including the widely acclaimed books in the World Chess Champions Series.
Vladimir Linder is one of the best known sport journalists in Russia. He is also the co-author, with his father Isaak Linder, of many books.

Tomasz Lissowski
After World war Two, Miguel Najdorf of Argentina became a world class player, competing successfully in events of the highest standard. But he wasn't from Argentina and his career began much earlier.
This book tells the story of how he developed into an international player of standing in his native Poland in the late 1920s and 1930s. In doing so it also gives a flavour of the organisation and importance of chess in that country, at a time when it was one of the foremost chess playing countries of the world.
Every known game by Najdorf (192 games altogether) is included, together with contemporary annotations where available. The book also includes tournament cross tables and details of Najdorf's career record from 1928 to 1939.
