A J Gillam (Ed)

This was the first of what were intended to be biennial events to discover Euope's strongest player. Two sections allowed for promotion and relegation. The tournament was submerged in the turmoil of war and has never been published in full before.

By searching through magazines of the time the editor has managed to re-discover 65 games out of the 66 in the top group (Alekhine, Bogoljubow, Keres, Junge, Barcza, Stoltz, Foltys, etc) together with a huge quantity of notes written by leading players. In addition there are 62 of the 66 games from the second group, with notes where available.

The book also includes 23 pages of introduction in German and English, 98 diagrams; player index and openings index.

Published 2001, softback, 124 pages.
